    Course Information

    The Heartland Economic Development Course (HEDC) offers intensive training in the basic concepts, information, methods, and strategies of local economic development. A diverse and experienced faculty, composed of both academicians and practitioners, gives an excellent blend of theory and practice. Course content is oriented toward practical applications. Graduation from HEDC fulfills one of the education prerequisites for those who wish to take examinations for Certified Economic Development (CEcD) designation.

    HEDC is accredited by the International Economic Development Council.

    Course Materials

    HEDC participants are provided all required course materials online prior to the start of the course.  Participants will be provided with an IEDC Introduction to Economic Development manual upon course check-in. 

    Meals

    Several meals are included in the course fee. A full breakfast and break service each day, lunches Tuesday - Thursday, and an organized dinner on Tuesday and dinner vouchers on Wednesday. See the FAQ page for more details.

    Attendance Policy

    HEDC participants are required to attend all sessions to receive credit for the course and obtain a certificate of completion. Accommodations for schedule conflicts, sickness, etc. may be made by contacting the course director, James Hoeslcher. 

    Cancellation Policy

    Registration may be canceled by March 15, 2022 for a full refund. Cancellations received by April 1, 2022 will be refunded at only 50% of the course fee. After April 1, 2022, no refunds will be issued. Any registered attendee who does not submit a cancellation and does not attend the course is required to pay their balance in full. Substitutions are permitted with prior notification.
