One of the ways that Business & Community Services strives to make an impact in the state of Iowa is by providing opportunities for students to learn valuable skills. This summer, we are doing that through a number of camps and learning opportunities for students from elementary all the way to undergrad!

Panther Park is a 3D design, 3D printing, and Virtual Reality Experience for students entering the 6th through 9th grade. This immersive day-camp experience with dinosaurs is held by the Metal Casting Center (MCC). Students will don their paleontologist hat to learn about 3D design and 3D printing with plastic and sand. Camp registration costs $75 and includes camp program supplies, a snack, and a 3D print of one of your creations. Come ready to create and explore!

The camp runs from Tuesday, June 26th - Thursday, June 28th, 2018 from 9:00am-4:00pm daily. There is also a girls-only session of this camp (same age group) that runs runs from Tuesday, June 19th - Thursday, June 21st, 2018 from 9:00am-4:00pm daily. Campers will meet on TECHWorks Campus in Waterloo and should bring a sack lunch each day. Register for this camp session today via (credit card or check).

Lemonade Day Entrepreneurial Camp is a hands-on entrepreneurship experience for kids grades 4-6 hosted by Community Main Street and Mill Race Coworking. The UNI John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC) will be working with students to provide educational assistance!

Students will learn all about what it takes to be an entrepreneur, from perfecting their lemonade recipes to learning about the importance of sanitation when preparing food. On June 16th from 10:00am-11:30am, these young entrepreneurs will get the opportunity to open up their lemonade stands outside of a downtown Cedar Falls business. The public is invited to come and support these entrepreneurs in their first business venture, and all proceeds will be donated to a local charity of the group’s choosing!

The camp runs from Wednesday June 13th - Friday June 15th, and lemonade stands will be open for business on June 16th (locations to be announced soon). The cost is $35 per student. To learn more about applying, visit Community Main Street’s website.

The Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute (OEI) is an advanced entrepreneurship study held in early August at Lake Okoboji in Iowa. 8 UNI students will join 24 students from other Iowa schools to participate in a computer-based simulation that requires students to create and operate a new business. Teams will have the opportunity to present their business to venture capitalists and secure funding for their simulated companies!

For the 2018 summer, 8 UNI students have already been selected. However, interested junior and senior UNI students should apply in the Spring semester. Click this link to find more info about OEI and how to apply:
